There are many problems with NAFTA, so here are some of the ideas i am thinking about write on for 3.1
1) Issue out permits that would allow for easier crossing of the border. The certification process should be expensive and very strict. Keep them highly regulated with strict punishments.
2) Increase the punishments for both illegal immigrants and employers of illegal immigrants. This would counter the point that NAFTA causes American jobs to be taken by illegal immigrants.
3) Only allow Americans and those who legally entered the country to accept the benefits from federal programs such as welfare, etc. Re-evaluate the way we distribute benefits and services.

6/23/08 Controversy
Bank of America offering illegal immigrant credit cards.
--Does it defy federal immigration law?
--Are they just profiting off illegal immigration?
--Are we becomeing comfortable with illegal immigration?
--Hurt the economy? (Bad credit risk)
~High interest rate hitting around 21%
~Credit limit of around $500.
~SafeSend program already active, which allows immigrants who open a checking account in the United States to transfer money to a bank in Mexico where it can be retrieved by a third party.
